Distribution L271 was said to originate from the Rio Tapajos, Para State, Brazil when it first appeared in DATZ. However, it has been much more recently verified / collected from the neighbouring Curuá-Una. It is possible that an assumption was made as to its origin and either it is restricted to the Curuá-Una or is found there and the Tapajos too.

Feeding These are wood eating Loricariidae. They accept vegetables and commercially prepared food such as Spirulina tabs. Animal protein such as bloodworms and suchlike can be given once in a while but should not be the main diet, except when conditioning the female to breeding when it helps them to mature eggs. User data.
Furniture Fine sand, a lot of driftwood, slate caves and bamboo.
Compatibility Not overly territorial - a good citizen.
Suggested Tankmates Works well with most types of peaceful community fish. Can be somewhat territorial towards conspecifics, but given enough hiding spaces, a group can be kept in a suitable size aquarium - roughly requiring a 30 x 30cm area per fish.
Breeding Yet to be recorded but surely a cave spawner.
Breeding Reports There is no breeding report.
