Scientific Name	**Cetopsidium soniae** Vari & Ferraris, 2009
Common Name
Type Locality	Main channel of Manari River, Takutu River basin, along road between Lethem and Annai, near Lethem, 3°26.590'N, 59°44.578'W, Central Rupununi (Region 9), Guyana.
Etymology	The genus name, Cetopsidium, from Cetopsis, that was the first genus proposed in the Cetopsinae, and "idium" meaning diminutive, is in reference to the relatively small body sizes of the members of the genus. The species name, soniae, is in honor of Dr. Sonia Fisch-Muller of the Muséum d'histoire naturelle, Geneva, who brought the species to our attention, has been of invaluable assistance to both authors with a number of projects over the years, and has contributed in myriad ways to our knowledge of South American catfishes.

Sexing	The mature male of Cetopsidium soniae has an elongate filament extending from the tip of the first rays of the dorsal and pectoral fins.
